The Official was designed as a "shoe for all things" and as such, the goals of this project were to provide an accommodating fit, all-weather construction, and all-terrain outsole. With the west coast demographic in mind, the design finds a balance between characteristic Fluevog flourishes and a casual silhouette appropriate for the workplace, a night out, or a hike in the woods.
The construction was designed to reduce weight, as the soles are substantially thick to improve the longevity of the shoes. A cemented Strobel-like construction was used with a molded foam footbed. Thorough R&D was done for the design of the macro and micro "F-Treads" for multi-directional slip resistance on a variety of terrain types and weather conditions. Most uppers include water-resistant materials and water-resistant construction methods, such as taped seams and waterproof elastic gussets.
The footbeds and soles reduce environmental impact through the use of recycled material content without sacrificing material performance or price-point objectives.
